DSS/Kinheim led 8-0 halfway the sixth inning when it gave up four runs to RCH-Pinguïns.
These runs were all scored without recording a basehit and with that, DSS/Kinheim's No-Hitter remained intact.
Two more hitless innings followed, resulting in the first-ever No-Hitter in the big league for the combation-team of DSS and Kinheim.
There was a lot going on tonight in Heemstede.
Besides being a combined No-Hitter, it also was a game in which there were some interference calls, three balk-calls (in one inning), an ejection and a crazy sixth inning for both teams.
After leaving runners on first and second base in the first inning, DSS/Kinheim opened the score in the top of the second inning off of starter T'sean Martina with two outs.
The righthander hit lead-off hitter Mees Robberse with a pitch and he moved to second base on a grounder by Jesse van den Berg.
With two outs, Amarensio Franka reached on an infield-hit towards second base.
That moved Robberse to third base and when an errant throw to first base followed, he was able to score the first run.
DSS/Kinheim doubled its lead in the top of the third inning.
With one out, Urving Kemp tripled and scored on a following grounder by Sem Kuijper.
In the top of the fourth, DSS/Kinheim took more distance by scoring three unearned runs with two outs.
Lead-off hitter Mees Robberse reached first base on a throwing error by T'sean Martina, but he was forced out moments later on a grounder by Matis Crouwel.
Hereafter, Martina struckout Jesse van den Berg, which could have been the third out.
But now, there were two outs and Amarensio Franka followed with an infield-hit after Crouwel had advanced on a passed ball.
Moments later, Franka stole second base.
With runners at second and third base, next batter Nick Hofer was awarded first base on catcher's interference and that loaded the bases.
Crouwel and Franka then went on to score when Julian Toppen's grounder ended in an error.
The bases then got loaded again when Urving Kemp walked and another run was scored when next batter Sem Kuijper also walked.
Three runners were left behind, as a grounder ended the at bat, but DSS/Kinheim now led 5-0.
After DSS/Kinheim was retired in order in the fifth inning, the team again scored three runs in the sixth inning off of three pitchers.
An inning with three walks, three balks, two stolen bases, a wild pitch, one basehit and an ejection.
Amarensio Franka led off with a walk and stole second base.
With one out, he moved to third base on a single by Julian Toppen.
That was followed by a pitching change, as Moreno Vork took over from T'sean Martina.
The first batter Vork faced was Urving Kemp, who fouled offf the first pitch.
On the next delivery, he flied out to centerfield, but that out was annulled, as a balk was called by both Home Plate Umpire Jeffrey Bentsnijder and 3B Umpire Niek Elshof.
With that, Franka was awarded home plate and Toppen moved to second base.
A brief discussion followed between RCH-Pinguïns Head Coach Joshua Zara and Bentsnijder.
On the next pitch, Kemp grounded out and Toppen advanced to third base.
Hereafter, Sem Kuijper was the next batter for DSS/Kinheim and Vork's first delivery to him was outside the strikezone.
On the second delivery, another balk was called and Toppen was awarded home plate.
For his reaction to this second balk-call, Bentsnijder immediately ejected Vork.
Nick Andringa became the new pitcher for RCH-Pinguïns and he took over Kuijper's at bat with an 1-0 count.
Kuijper walked (which was credited to Andringa) and he was to get a rare circle around the bases.
With Kuijper at first base, his brother Donny Kuijper in the batter's box and an 1-0 count, Andringa's second delivery also ended in a balk-call (which was the third in this at bat).
And so, Sem Kuijper moved to second base.
The next delivery ended in a wild pitch, which enabled Kuijper to advance to third base.
With a full-count, the next pitch became ball-four on a check-swing and the ball ending up in the ground.
While catcher Jaison Gijsbertha was looking for the ball and also positioned himself to throw the ball to first base, Kuijper scored on the wild pitch.
A grounder by Mees Robberse then finally ended this remarkable at bat.
In the meantime, there was a No-Hitter going on!
Martijn Schoonderwoerd started for DSS/Kinheim and got only two baserunners in the first five innings.
With one out in the bottom of the first inning, the righthander got his first baserunner when Jeldwin Orman reached on an error.
The at bat then ended with a rare double play.
Schoonderwoerd had a 2-2 count on Sebastiaan van der Horst.
On the next pitch, Orman took off to steal second base, while Van der Horst stepped in front of catcher Sem Kuijper while making a swing.
As this was batter's interference, both batter Van der Horst (stikeout) and runner Orman were ruled out.
And that ended the inning.
After having retired twelve consecutive batters, Schoonderwoerd walked Geoffrey Verhoef with two outs in the fifth inning.
He also stranded on first base.
Was the top of the sixth tumultuous, the bottom of the sixth also was remarkable.
Although the No-Hitter continued, RCH-Pinguïns managed to score four runs off of three pitchers and narrow the deficit to 8-4.
First, Martijn Schoonderwoerd walked Paris Aguilera Zayas and Tijani Dunlop.
The latter was then forced out on a grounder by Raul Jacobs.
That moved Aguilera to third base and he then scored on a wild pitch.
With Jacobs on second base, Schoonderwoerd also walked Jeldwin Orman and Ben Neijndorff was inserted as new pitcher.
He got the bases loaded when he hit Sebastiaan van der Horst with a pitch.
When Neijndorff walked next batter Aldrich Guzman Jacobs scored and the bases remained loaded.
A wild pitch then accounted for the third run.
With runners now on second and third base, a grounder by Denzel Brooks brought in Van der Horst and led to another pitching change.
Mathijs Oosterbeek took over and got an inning-ending grounder.
Besides that, the No-Hitter remained intact!
DSS/Kinheim got one run back, but also left three runners behind in the seventh.
Matis Crouwel led off with a walk and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch.
With two outs, he scored on a single by Nick Hofer.
Hereafter, the bases got loaded when Julian Toppen and Urving Kemp walked and then another pitching change followed.
Designated hitter Jeldwin Orman took over the pitching and got an inning-ending force play-grounder.
The bottom of the seventh began with a walk for lead-off hitter Jaison Gijsbertha.
Hereafter, Paris Aguilera Zayas bunted down the third base-line.
Third baseman Mees Robberse picked up the ball and threw it to short stop Amarensio Franka.
There, Gijsbertha slid in and a close play and collision followed.
Gijsbertha was called out by 3B Umpire Niek Elshof, while Franka dropped to the ground with an injury.
Some exchanges of words followed, but the dug-outs didn't empty.
In the meantime, there was another injury.
While running to first base, Aguilera grabbed his left leg, then fell to the ground after having reached base with an apparent hamstring-injury.
He was replaced by pinch-runner Luis Gonzalez Garay, who was to be eliminated in a double play.
Next batter Tijani Dunlop hit a line drive to Franka, who then threw the ball to first baseman Matis Crouwel to complete the inning-ending double play.
In the top of the eighth inning, DSS/Kinheim added three unearned runs.
Donny Kuijper led off with a walk, then advanced to third base when a grounder in front of home plate by Mees Robberse ended in an error.
Robberse reached second base on the error.
Kuijper and Robberse then scored on grounders by respectively Matis Crouwel and Jesse van den Berg.
With two outs, Amarensio Franka walked and scored on a following double by Nick Hofer.
And that lifted the lead to 12-4.
In the bottom of the eighth, Mathijs Oosterbeek retired the side, closing with two strikeouts.
That also ended the game, as the 10:30 PM curfew-time had been reached.
And with that, a remarkable No-Hitter was recorded!
