Dennis Burgersdijk started today for HCAW.
Initially, he was to start in Saturday's game, but when that rained out, he was moved to today.
Righthander Nathan Diaby was announced for today's game, as regular starter Kaj Timmermans could not be with the team today.
It is now expected that Timmermans will start in Monday's make-up game.
Quick Amersfoort stayed with its announced starter for today's game, lefthander Brian van Laar.
Saturday's announced starter Jhan Rifaela is now the expected starter on Monday.
Burgersdijk got runners at first and third base with one out in the first inning, but kept Quick scoreless.
The righthander gave up a lead-off single to Amar van Zwieten, who stole second base with one out.
He then moved to third base on an infield-hit by Pascal Zegwaard.
Hereafter, Zegwaard was caught stealing at second base and Burgersdijk closed by striking out veteran Ibrahin (Ibo) Redan.
In the second inning, Marvin Jakobus led off for Quick with a double.
But moments later, he was caught stealing in a rundown, which began with a pick-off by the catcher.
Burgersdijk retired the next two batters.
In the remainder of the game, Quick Amersfoort got only two more baserunners.
In the top of the third inning, Joshbert José Ponte Manganiello led off with a walk.
A bunt-attempt then ended in a foul pop-up and a strikeout and infield pop-up followed.
Burgersdijk retired the side in the fourth and fifth inning.
After having retired eleven batters in a row and with two outs in the sixth, he gave up an infield-hit to Jurian Hansen.
He also stranded on first base and Burgersdijk retired the side again in the seventh.
Relievers Sedley Karel and Nick Keur did the same in the eighth and ninth inning, respectively.
HCAW initially also was unable to score off of Brian van Laar.
The lefthander gave up a lead-off single to Delano Selassa in the first inning, but was then supported with a double play.
A foul pop-up caught by the catcher ended the at bat.
The second inning almost had the same scenario.
Quintin de Cuba led off with a single, but a double play followed.
This time, Shurman Marlin delivered the next single, but again, the at bat ended with a foul pop-fly that was caught by catcher Lars Visser.
Van Laar then retired the side in the third inning.
HCAW scored its first run with two outs in the bottom of the fourth.
With one out, Jeandro Tromp singled and stole second base.
He then advanced to third base when a walk to Quintin de Cuba ended in a wild pitch.
Tromp was unable to score when Kevin Dirksen followed with an infield-hit, but that loaded the bases.
With two outs, a passed ball then led to the first run of the afternoon.
The bases got loaded again when Max Draijer also walked, but three runners were left behind as the at bat ended with a flyout.
HCAW added a run in the fifth, also with two outs.
With one out, Delano Selassa walked and stole second base.
With two outs, he scored on a single by Jeandro Tromp.
HCAW got another scoring-opportunity in the sixth inning.
Jair van Borkulo led off with a single and Shurman Marlin walked.
But the first was then caught stealing when he was off the base and pitcher Brian van Laar stepped offf the plate to eliminate him at third base.
With two outs, HCAW got another runner in scoring position when Bob van der Meer reached on a bad-hop single.
But runners were left behind on first and second base.
HCAW doubled its lead in the bottom of the seventh by scoring two more runs.
Joel Martis was the new pitcher for Quick and he gave up an one-out double to Victor Draijer, who then was awarded third base when a balk was called.
Moments later, he scored on a single by Jeandro Tromp, his third in the game.
HCAW then got the bases loaded when Quintin de Cuba also singled and Jair van Borkulo walked.
A pitching change followed and Deef van Leersum took over from Martis with three runners on base.
He got a grounder from Shurman Marlin, but that of course also move the runners and so, Tromp scored, meaning he accounted for all HCAW-runs.
In the bottom of the eighth, HCAW got one more runner in scoring postion when Bob van der Meer led off with a double, but he was left behind on second base.
As mentioned, Quick was retired in order two relievers in the eighth and ninth inning.
Lefthander Nick Keur struckout the final two batters in the ninth to end the game.
