In a quick-paced game, Neptunus opened the score early and with a 7-0 lead, the team reached the mercy-rule run-difference in the sixth inning via a 5-run rally. Hoofddorp Pioniers got only three runners in scoring position today, but none of them reached third base.

Neptunus opened the score with three runs in the bottom of the first inning off of starter Maarten Smit. With one out, the lefthander walked Roger Bernadina and John Polonius, who were awarded the next base when a balk was called. With two outs and some drizzling rain, both scored when Arthur Bonevacia hit the ball over the fence in left-centerfield for a 3-run homerun.

Neptunus added two more runs in the second at bat when it also started to rain somewhat heavier. With one out, Enrique Hatma singled and moved into scoring positon on a wild pitch on the third delivery by Maarten Smit to next batter Rayshelon Carolina. For Home Plate Umpire Niek Elshof, that was the signal to stop the game because of the steady rain. Some players of Neptunus put down a tarp at the mound, but just when other players were unfolding a tarp for the home plate-area, the rain stopped. And so, the tarpets were removed again, as the brief shower had left the area. After a 6-minute delay, the game continued and moments later, Carolina delivered a single. With runners at the corners, a pick-off attempt to first base ended in an error and enabled Hatma to score. Carolina advanced to second base on the error, then scored himself on a following single by Stijn van der Meer.

Neptunus took more distance in the bottom of the fourth inning when two more runs were scored. With two outs, Rayshelon Carolina reached on an infield-hit and again moved into scoring position when a pick-off went errant. He then moved to third base on a grounder and scored on a single by Roger Bernadina. When next batter John Polonius also singled, a pitching change followed. Daan Kuit took over, but he was greeted with a runscoring single by Dwayne Kemp. Neptunus got the bases loaded when Arthur Bonevacia walked, but the three runners were left behind, as a flyout ended the at bat.

Neptunus added five more runs in the sixth inning, four of them unearned (the fifth was team-unearned). With two outs, pinch-hitter Dre Celestijn reached second base on an error and scored on a following single by Arthur Bonevacia. The latter then scored himself on a double by Christian Diaz. Hereafter, Sheadion Jamanika walked, another pitching change followed. Sem Nijman took the mound for Pioniers, but he gave up a 2-run double to Enrique Hatma. He went on to score himself on a single by Rayshelon Carolina, which increased the lead to 12-0.

Neptunus-starter Shairon Martis encountered no problems in his six innings on the mound. The righthander gave up an one-out single to Terrance Heemskerk in the top of the first inning, but he was forced out on a 2-out grounder by Daan Terstall.

After having retired eight batters in a row, Martis gave up a 2-out single to Terstall in the fourth, but then closed with a strikeout. In the fifth inning, Pioniers got its first runner in scoring position. With two outs, Max Vonk and Miquel Willem both singled, but again Martis closed with a strikeout. In the sixth, again with two outs, Terstall doubled, but stranded on second base.

Aaron de Groot threw the seventh inning for Neptunus. He walked lead-off hitter Michael Dumitrescu, who then got second base when a balk was called. De Groot struckout the next two batters and a grounder ended the inning and the game, as Neptunus had reached the 10-run difference in the sixth at bat.
