Rafaela started the season with Portland Sea Dogs in Double-A. There, he batted .294 with six homeruns and 37 RBI's in 60 games. On June 28, Rafaela was asssigned to Worcester Red Sox, Boston's Triple-A team. Since then, he played in 48 games and batted .312 with 30 extra-basehits, including 14 homeruns. Rafaela scored 40 runs and batted in 42. Before he was recalled to the Major League-team of Boston, Rafaela had homered in five consecutive games for Worcester.

Ceddanne Rafaela made his professional debut in 2018, playing in 54 games in the Rookie League-team of Boston that is based in the Dominican Republic. He promoted to Single-A in 2019, then to Double-A in 2022.

In both 2022 (seven) and in this year (16 games), Rafaela came into action for the Major League-team of Boston during Spring Training.

After having traveled from Worcester to Boston, Rafaela made his Major League-debut on Monday-evening in a home-game against Houston Astros. In the top of the eighth inning, Rafaela replaced third baseman Rafael Devers in the batting order and became the new centerfielder, taking over the position from Adam Duvall. In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner on second base and one out, Rafaela got his first at bat and delivered a single.

At Boston, Ceddanne Rafaela is now a teammate of fellow-Curaçaon Kenley Jansen. Rafaela is the fourth player with a Dutch passport to play for Boston Red Sox. Through last year, Aruba-born Xander Bogaerts played in ten seasons for Boston. In 1979-1980, pitcher Win Remmerswaal was the first and then was the first Dutch-born and raised player to reach the Major League. Remmerswaal passed away last year at age 68.

Rafaela is the 17th player coming from Curaçao who has reached the Major League and the first since Sherten Apostel played in seven games for Texas Rangers in 2020.

Overall, Rafaela is the 39th player with a Dutch background in the Major League. Besides the seventeen players coming from Curaçao, six were born in Aruba, eleven in the Netherlands, four in the USA and one in the Dominican Republic.
