The game remained scoreless in the first three at bats, then HCAW led only 1-0, but was unable to take more distance.
RCH-Pinguïns came alongside and took the lead.
HCAW then tied the score in the eighth and won in the tenth to stay unbeaten, but it was a not-so-easy win today.
HCAW faced Juan Carlos Sulbaran, who kept the Bussum-team to only one run.
It was expected that the righthander would have been in the USA around this time to be active in the professional Atlantic League (independent league).
Sulbaran signed a contract with Lexington Counter Clocks in March, which was confirmed again some two weeks ago.
The season in the Atlantic League opened yesterday (April 28), but Sulbaran is still here and thus, he was on the mound again for RCH-Pinguïns.
Sulbaran got two runners in scoring position in the first three innings.
With one out in the first, he gave up a single to Victor Draijer, but he stranded on second base.
With two outs in the third, Delano Selassa doubled for HCAW and was awarded third base on a balk, but also was left behind.
HCAW then opened the score in the bottom of the fourth.
With one out, the bases got loaded when Shurman Marlin, Jair van Borkulo and Kevin Dirksen all singled.
Marlin then scored on a wild pitch, but the other two stranded on second and third base, as a strikeout and flyout followed.
The lead was shortlived, as RCH-Pinguïns came alongside in the top of the fifth.
But not before the Heemstede-team also had stranded some runners in scoring position.
HCAW-starter Kaj Timmermans gave up a lead-off double to Jeldwin Orman, who moved to third base on a following grounder by next batter Tijani Dunlop.
Timmermans struckout the next two batters.
In the top of the third, lead-off hitter Jaison Gijsbertha was hit by a pitch, then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Raul Jacobs.
Moments later, Gijsbertha was eliminated at third base trying to advance on a grounder towards short by Jeldwin Orman.
After the latter had stolen second base, Tijani Dunlop walked, but they also were left behind.
RCH-Pinguïns tied the score in the top of the fifth.
Daan Groenewoud led off with a single and stole second base, then advanced on a single by Jaison Gijsbertha.
He then scored the tying run on a grounder by Raul Jacobs.
After having left two runners behind in the sixth inning, RCH-Pinguïns took the lead in the top of the seventh off of new pitcher Jasper Elfrink.
Lead-off hitter Jaison Gijsbertha reached on an error, then his pinch-runner Jesse Aussems advanced on a bunt-single by Raul Jacobs.
A double play followed on a grounder by Jeldwin Orman, but that moved Aussems to third base and he then scored when pinch-hitter Koen Werkman delivered a single.
Like HCAW's lead, the RCH-lead also didn't last long.
With RCH leading 2-1, Chris Koeiman took over the pitching in the bottom of the seventh.
With two outs, he got two baserunners, but they were left behind.
But in the eighth, HCAW scored the tying run.
With one out, Jair van Borkulo and Kevin Dirksen both singled, which gave HCAW runners at the corners.
Julian Goins followed with a runscoring single to make it a 2-2 score.
Dirksen and Goins moved on a grounder by Max Draijer, but stranded on third and second base.
Both teams were retired in order in the ninth inning.
Jasper Elfrink struckout two of the three batters he faced.
Chris Koeiman closed his ninth with a strikeout.
Remarkably enough, that also led to an ejection.
Although, it was a batter of HCAW who was called out on strikes, RCH's catcher Jaison Gijsbertha (was had been replaced in the seventh) voiced some criticism from the dug-out on the strikezone and was ejected by Home Plate Umpire Richard Wessel.
And so, the game went into extra innings.
Before today, there had not been extra inning-games yet in the big league.
Today, there were three, two of them going twelve innings.
In the top of the tenth, Sedley Karel took the mound for HCAW.
He gave up a lead-off single to Jeldwin Orman, but he was forced out on a grounder by Koen Werkman, who would be left behind on second base.
In the bottom of the tenth, T'sean Martina was the new pitcher for RCH.
Martina, who was the starting pitcher in the opener last Wednesday, gave up singles to Quintin de Cuba and Jair van Borkulo.
The two moved on a sacrifice bunt by Kevin Dirksen.
Although first base was now open, it was not opted to issue an intentional walk to set up force play.
Instead, it was opted to pitch to next batter Julian Goins.
He then hit Martina's second delivery through the leftside of the infield for a walk-off single, as De Cuba scored the winning run.
With that, Goins had batted in both the tying and winning run.
