Amsterdam Pirates rallied for five runs in the first inning and expanded its lead quickly en route to another mercy-rule victory against Quick Amersfoort.
Pirates-starter Michael Bennett got two baserunners with one out in the top of the first inning.
The righthander then walked Josberth José Ponte Manganiello and gave up a single to Pascal Zegwaard.
But Bennett then struckout the Redan-brothers, Ibrahin and Irving, to end the at bat.
Pirates was more successful in its first at bat off of Quick-starter Brian van Laar.
The team rallied for five runs on five basehits to take an early comfortable lead.
Four of the runs were scored with two outs.
Roelie Henrique led off with a double, moved on a single by Duco Nuijten and scored on a sacrifice fly by Denzel Richardson.
Thereafter, Alex Madera singled and with two outs, Oliver van der Wijst Severino delivered a runscoring single.
That was followed by a 2-run single from Jorrit Penseel.
Next, Pirates got the bases loaded when Ilyas van den Bos and Jason Jakobus both walked.
With three runners on base, Van Laar also walked Roelie Henrique, which led to an automatic run and lifted the lead to 5-0.
Still with three runners on base, a grounder ended the at bat.
After Michael Bennett had retired the side in the top of the second inning, Pirates added three more runs in its second at bat.
Denzel Richardson led off with a single, stole second base and advanced on a single by Alex Madera.
Richardson then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kenny Berkenbosch and Madera went on to score when Oliver van der Wijst followed with a homerun.
That made it an 8-0 score and also led to a pitching change.
Joel Martis took over and got two grounders.
In the next two innings, Martis got only one baserunner, giving up no basehits and no runs.
Quick got its second runner in scoring position in top of the third inning.
Jordy Burger led off with a single and was awarded second base on a balk, but Michael Bennett then retired the next three batters.
In the fourth inning, Yassir Lachkar took over the Pirates-pitching.
He held Quick hitless in his two innings on the mound.
In the fourth, the righthander hit a batter with two outs and in the fifth, he was supported with a double play.
Pirates added another run in the bottom of the fifth off of new pitcher Deef van Leersum.
He walked lead-off hitter Jorrit Penseel.
With one out, he moved to third base when a throwing error was made on a force play-grounder by Jason Jakobus.
Penseel then scored on a sacrifice fly by Roelie Henrique.
In the sixth inning, Finn Kragt became the third Pirates-pitcher.
He gave up a 2-out single to Ibrahin Redan, who was forced out moments later.
Kragt retired the side (two strikeouts) in the seventh.
With a 9-0 lead, Pirates needed one more run to end the game via the mercy-rule.
The home-team got that chance in the bottom of the sixth when it got its first two batters on base.
Alex Madera led off with a single and Kenny Berkenbosch followed with a double.
With runners on second and third base, Jasper Popken took over the pitching and retired the next three batters.
But the necessary tenth run was then scored in the bottom of the seventh.
With one out, Roelie Henrique walked.
He moved to third base on a following single by >Jules Cremer.
When the latter tried to advance to second base, he was eliminated there on a throw from leftfielder Pascal Zegwaard, but in the meantime, Henrique scored.
And with that, the game ended on this walk-off-single-plus-fielder's-choice.
