In today's exhibition game, Oranje-Manager Evert-Jan 't Hoen didn't use one of his regular starting pitchers.
Instead, six relievers were inserted, who each threw one inning in the game that ended after 5½ inning.
All pitchers, also of the Mexican opponent, were limited to pitch-count.
When that was reached, the at bat ended, regardles of the total outs or the situation.
The local baseball-team ffrom Zapopan got into scoring-position twice in the first three innings, but was kept scoreless by three pitchers.
Rookie Pim Vijfvinkel started.
The righthander gave up an one-out single, but that runner was later forced out.
In the second inning, Franklin Van Gurp took the mound.
With one out, he also gave up a single, then got another baserunner via a walk.
Van Gurp followed with a strikeout, which also ended the at bat.
Lefthander Dylan Farley pitched the third inning for the Netherlands.
He got two baserunners with two outs, when he walked a batter and hit the next one with a pitch.
Farley closed with a strikeout.
The Orange-team, which was the home-team, also stranded runners in scoring-position in its first two at bats.
In the first inning, Didi Gregorius led off with a walk.
Next batter Hendrik Clementina struckout in his first at bat after joning the team.
The catcher was not with the team during the preceeding tournament on Aruba.
After Juremi Profar had flied out, Gregorius advanced on a passed ball.
Moments later, the former Major Leaguer moved to third base when a pick-off attempt ended in an error.
Hereafter, Eugene Helder walked, but he was forced out on a grounder by Sharlon Schoop.
In the second inning, Denzel Richardson led off with a double.
After two flyouts, Richardson advanced to third base on a passed ball and Dwayne Kemp walked.
But again, runners stranded on first and third base.
The Kingdom Team opened the score with two outs in the third.
With one out, Juremi Profar doubled and Eugene Helder followed with a line drive that appeared to become a runscoring single.
However, the Mexican short stop made a great defensive play and eliminated Helder.
Now with two outs, Sharlon Schoop walked.
Profar then did score the first run when Denzel Richardson followed with his second double.
The 1-0 lead was shortlived, as the Mexican opponent answered with two runs in the fourth inning off of new pitcher Scott Prins.
With one out, the righthander gave up three consecutive singles, which tied the score.
A force play gave the Mexicans runners at the corners.
They then took a 2-1 lead on a passed ball.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Netherlands rallied for four runs to take the lead for good.
Ray-Patrick Didder and Dwayne Kemp began with singles.
Didder moved to third base when Didi Gregorius flied out and Kemp came into scoring-position via a passed ball.
Moments later, Didder scored the tying run on a wild pitch and Kemp scored the go-ahead run when Hendrik Clementina delivered a single.
Juremi Profar followed with a 2-run homerun to make it a 5-2 score.
Hereafter, Eugene Helder walked and that also ended the at bat, as the Mexican pitcher had reached his pitch-count limit.
Eric Mendez Matos, the fifth Orange-pitcher, also got a Mexican runner in scoring-positon after giving up a lead-off infield-hit and an one-out single.
Mendez followed with a strikeout and a flyout ended the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, three Orange-runs were added.
Sharlon Schoop led off with a single and after Delano Selassa had flied out, Rushenten Tomsjansen walked.
Selassa and Tomsjansen both entered the game in the top of the fourth.
Next, the second out was recorded when Ray-Patrick Didder struckout.
That brought veteran Dwayne Kemp in the batter's box and he connected for a 3-run homerun to lift the lead to 8-2.
In the top of the sixth, Ryan Huntington was the pitcher.
He became the only one of the six Orange-pitchers to retire the side.
And that also ended the game.
