AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - Veteran coach André Prins is starting a new chapter in his long softball-career, as he has accepted the position of Head Coach of the National Team of the Czech Republic. Coming year, Prins will lead the Czech national squad for the first time. The biggest challenge will come in the 2013 season during the European Championship, which then almost surely will be held in the Czech Republic, as Prague is the lone candidate that filed a bid for the organisation. His goal then will be to qualify with the Czech women for the 2014 World Championship to be held in Haarlem (Netherlands).

This year, André Prins headed the National Team of France during the European Championship in Italy after having coached the Junior-squad of France during the Junior EC in 2010 in Vienna (Austria). During the Championship in Italy, Prins led the French squad to seventh place after the team won three of its four games in the preliminary round, finishing in second place to qualify for the final round. France then won 9-4 vs. Austria on the final day to claim seventh place, its highest ranking since finishing in sixth place in 1995.

Prins was a member of the coachingstaff of the Dutch National Softball Team in 2005 and led the Dutch National Junior Team in the same year. From 2006-2009, Prins was the Head Coach of the Dutch National Youth Program and led the Dutch Juniors to its first Play-Offs on a World Championship in 2007 when the event was held in Enschede (Netherlands). In 2008, he guided the Junior-team to the title on the European Championship in Germany and in 2009, he captured the silver medal with the National Youth Team during the Youth World Cup in the Czech Republic.

In the past, Prins coached both the National and Junior Teams of Russia, as well as Moscow-based team Carrousel.

Besides being active internationally as a coach and clinician, André Prins was a coach and instructor at the clublevel for several Dutch clubs, including Westerkwartier, VUC, Storks, Sparta and Euro Stars. This year, he returned to clubcoaching, as he was the Head Coach of Gryphons, which won the championship in the 'Overgangsklasse' to promote to next years Dutch Major League. In 2012, he will return as Head Coach of Gryphons to make his coaching comeback in the highest division.
