Terrasvogels hands Sparks Haarlem first loss

Hotel Ambassador c.c. Terrasvogels ended a 7-game winning streak of league-leader and reigning champion Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem with a come-from-behind 7-6 win, thanks to three runs in the seventh inning, on Sunday.
Sparks Haarlem had won the opening game of the double-header 5-3 to extend the winning streak.
Twins won twice vs. the Dutch Juniors, 6-0 and 5-4, but trailed 4-0 in Game 2.
At Santpoort, trailing 2-0, Solange Starrenburg hit a 3-run homerun to give Terrasvogels a 3-2 lead, but then Chantal Versluis homered to tie the score in the fourth inning.
Sparks Haarlem then added two runs in the fifth inning to win the opening game.
In Game 2, Sparks Haarlem led 6-0 in the fourth inning, thanks to a homerun by Nathalie Gosewehr in the first inning and a 4-run rally in the third inning, but was then held scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Terrasvogels rallied for four runs in the fourth inning on a 2-run double by Ashli Holland and 2-run single by Mariëlle Vleugels to make it a 6-4 score.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Meike Witteveen led off with a triple and Marisèla de Wind was hit by a pitch.
Hereafter, Solange Starrenburg, Ashli Holland and Dana Horeman all singled to give Terrasvogels a 7-6 win.
Another highlight in this game, was a triple play by Terrasvogels.
At Oosterhout, Kimberly Petrovich threw a 3-hit, 6-0 shutout in the opener vs. the Juniors.
In Game 2, the Juniors scored held a 4-0 lead in the fourth, but failed to hold onto it, as Twins rallied for five runs in the fourth, highlighted by a 2-run double by Petrovich, an RBI-single by Evelien Vonk and 2-run single by Kirsten Molle.
