3rd inning rally gives Olympia Haarlem win vs. Talent Team
Nederlands
HAARLEM (Neth.) - FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem won 6-2 on Thursday-evening (June 4) in a make-up game vs. the Talent Team Holland. The game initially was to be the second game of a double-header, scheduled last Sunday, but then rained out.

Olympia Haarlem collected ten basehits, including three by Mariëlle Vleugels.

Coming Sunday, the two teams again will meet in a double-header.

Game 2

Olympia Haarlem left two runners in the first inning and one in the second, but then struck with a 5-run rally in the third at bat.

With one out in the third, Dinet Oosting tripled and scored on a following double by Stephanie Tofft, who then scored on a single by Mariëlle Vleugels. Next, Rosanne de Vries also doubled to bring in another run. That led to a pitching change, as Ilona Andringa took over for Roos-Marijn Kramer. But the hitting and scoring continued, as Dominique Sprengers delivered a runscoring single, then Stephanie Ruiter followed with an RBI-double to make it 5-0. Hereafter, two grounders finally ended the inning.

The home team added another run in the fourth when Eva Voortman led off with a triple and scored on a sac-fly by Stephanie Tofft.

Olympia-starter Eva Voortman retired nine of the first eleven batters in the first three innings. She then saw the Talent Team getting the bases loaded with no outs in the fourth. Maxime van Dalen led off with a double, Manoa Weijgertse walked and Laura Wissink singled. Next, Van Dalen was forced out at home on a grounder by Isa Los and Voortman ended the inning with two strikeouts.

In the fifth inning, the Talent Team stranded two runners off of new pitcher Mariëlle Vleugels. It then got the bases loaded again in the sixth. Laura Wissink led off with a single. With one out, pinch-hitters Rhowan Stuart and Ismay Poot (bunt) also singled to load the bases. But again, the three runners were left behind.

Eva Voortman took over the pitching again for Olympia in the seventh, which was a productive at bat for the Juniors. The bases quickly got loaded when Annemiek Jansen, Maxime van Dalen and Manoa Weijgertse all walked. A wild pitch then led to two runs. Laura Wissink then singled to put runners on first and third base. But hereafter, Voortman struckout the next three batters to end the game.
