Game 2
After winning only 7-6 a week ago vs. the Juniors, Olympia Haarlem again registered a small win in today's second game against the Talent Team.
The Haarlem-squad faced a 2-0 deficit in the fifth inning, but then rallied for four runs to turn the game its way.
The Juniors opened the score in the first inning off of Stephanie Tofft, who went the distance for Olympia.
With one out, she gave up a singles to Annemiek Jansen and Maxime van Dalen and walked Manoa Weijgertse, which loaded the bases.
But the Talents only scored one run, which was done via a grounder by Isa Los.
The team left two runners when another grounder ended the at bat.
The Juniors were then held scoreless in the next three innings, but they added another run in the fifth.
With one out, Lizzie Clarijs singled.
After stealing second base with two outs, she was able to score when Maxime van Dalen reached on an error.
Olympia was silenced in the first three innings by Ilona Andringa, who pitched a complete game for the Juniors.
In the fourth inning, the home team got the bases loaded, but failed to score.
With two outs and Rosanne de Vries (fielder's choice) on base, the bases were loaded when Stephanie Ruiter singled and Rachel van Veen walked.
But they were left when a foul-out ended the inning.
Trailing 2-0, Olympia rallied for four runs with two outs in the fifth inning.
Merel Oosterveld led off with a single, then moved to third base on two grounders.
She then scored when Stephanie Tofft singled, who went on to score the tying run on a following double by Mariëlle Vleugels.
Desiree Adriaansz then was inserted as pinch-runner for Vleugels and, after Rosanne de Vries walked, she scored on a single by Stephanie Ruiter.
A single by Rachel van Veen then accounted for the next run and made it 4-2.
The bases were then loaded when Dominique Sprengers was hit by a pitch, but three runners were left behind when a strikeout ended the at bat.
After the Talent Team had stranded a runner on third base in the top of the fifth, Olympia Haarlem added an insurance run in the bottom half.
Lead-off hitter Eva Voortman was hit by a pitch, advanced on a sac-bunt by Dinet Oosting and stole third base, then scored on a sac-fly in foul territory by Stephanie Tofft.
In the seventh inning, the Talent Team narrowed the deficit to 5-3.
Wies Ligtvoet led off with an infield-hit, stole second base and moved to third on a single by Lizzie Clarijs.
When the latter was caught stealing in a rundown, Ligvoet was able to score.
With two outs, Maxime van Dalen walked, but she was left behind, as a grounder ended the game. |
