Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - Ban-Topa Future Stars on Saturday (April 18) won at Onze Gezellen to remain unbeaten in the Silver League.

(April 18)

Game 1

Ban-Topa Future Stars won its third consecutive game, thanks to a 5-run rally in the first at bat. Emily Stenzler led off with a walk, then an error followed on a force play-grounder by Jeannevian Kinburn, which put runners on first and third base. An errant throw to third base then accounted for the first run and a passed ball brought in the second. With one out, Alyssa Dronenburg doubled, then Ylaine van de Hove connected for a 2-run homerun to make it 4-0. Next, Nadine van Roode singled, moved on a bunt-single by Lee Ann Craanberg, then scored on a double by Kelly Platvoet.

The sixth run was added in the second inning when Jeannevian Kinburn led off with a walk and went on to score on a passed ball.

Trailing 6-0, Onze Gezellen got two runs back in the fourth inning. Ban-Topa starter Lee Ann Craanberg had retired the first ten batters she had faced, but then walked Patricia Hesterman with one out in the fourth inning. Babs de Jonge then singled and both scored when an error was made on a grounder with two outs by Amy Udink.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kinburn scored another run, this time via sacrifice fly by Alyssa Dronenburg. The Amsterdam-squad then added its next run in the fifth when Samayra Staal's single was followed by an outfield-error.

Onze Gezellen had two runs left in the sixth. Shannon Hetem then led off with a single and Patricia Hesterman and Babs de Jonge followed with back-to-back runscoring doubles that made it 8-4.

Nadine van Roode completed the game for Ban-Topa in the seventh inning, ending the game with a strikeout.

Game 2

The second game of today's double-header had a lot of suspense and almost led to the first loss of the season for Ban-Topa Future Stars. The Amsterdam-team trailed 10-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, then rallied for five runs to win 11-10, scoring the last three runs with two outs!

The teams combined on 26 basehits, 14 of which were hit by the home team. Jeannevian Kinburn collected four basehits, while Emily Stenzler reached base five times.

Onze Gezellen opened the score in the first inning when Babs de Jonge singled and scored on a triple by Laura van der Bos. Ban-Topa reacted with two runs in its first at bat. Emily Stenzler and Jeannevian Kinburn (bunt) then singled and scored on a grouder by Jeaniven Sophia and a sac-fly by Alyssa Dronenburg.

Ban-Topa increased its lead to 3-1 in the second inning when Stenzler tripled and scored on a single by Kinburn.

Onze Gezellen then rallied for six runs in the third at bat. With one out and Shannon Hetem (error) on second base, Patricia Hesterman singled. A force play was set up by walking Babs de Jonge intentionally, but then Laura van der Bos followed with a baseclearing triple that gave the Haarlem-team a 4-3 lead. The latter then scored on a sac-fly by Amy Udink. Next, Fiona Sewalt singled and scored on a double by Daniëlle Gardeniers, who then scored on a single by Iris Dweelaard to make it 7-3.

Onze Gezellen added another run in the fourth when Shannon Hetem scored on an error.

Trailing 8-3, Ban-Topa answered with three runs in the fifth. Stenzler reached on an error and scored on a passed ball, then Kinburn and Sophia both scored on a single by Shirley Jacobs, but the team also stranded two runners.

Onze Gezellen increased its lead in the next two innings. In the sixth, Babs de Jonge walked with two outs and scored the third triple in this game by Laura van der Bos. In the seventh, Fiona Sewalt led off with a triple and scored on a passed ball. Hereafter, Onze Gezellen left the bases loaded. But the team was now leading 10-6. However, that lead was not enough.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ban-Topa had a strong finish. With one out, Shirley Jacobs singled and scored when an outfield-error followed a single by Ylaine van de Hove. The latter scored when Lee Ann Craanberg singled. A grounder then accounted for the second out, meaning Onze Gezellen was one out away from a victory. But then Darlenes Marinez connected well and hit a 2-run homerun that tied the score! Moments later, Emily Stenzler reached second base on an error, then scored the winning run when another error followed a single by Jeannevian Kinburn.
