Game 1
In the opener, Terrasvogels, the vice-champion of last year, got a fine pitching performance from Ginger de Weert, who struckout 14 batters and gave up only four hits.
But offensively, Terrasvogels had to wait until the sixth inning to open the score, as Quincey Catsburg also had a good outing for DSS, striking out seven batters.
In the first five innings, Terrasvogels stranded four runners, DSS three.
Terrasvogels got close to the first run in the first at bat.
With two outs, Jessie van Aalst singled and stole second base, then moved to third base on a passed ball, but stranded there.
In between, Marisèla de Wind had walked, so two runners were left behind.
In the second inning, Lizzie Clarijs led off for Terrasvogels with a single and later stranded on third base.
For DSS, Morgan Sampson singled with two outs in the first inning, but then Ginger de Weert retired eight batters in row, including four strikeouts.
With one out in the fourth, Sampson singled again, as did next batter Denice van Dijk, but both were left behind.
Terrasvogels then opened the score in the sixth inning, scoring three runs.
Rookie Ella Krommendijk led off with a walk, then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Jessie van Aalst and scored the first run on a single by Marisèla de Wind.
Hereafter, Lisa Waasdorp tripled to make it 2-0, then scored herself on a single by Lizzie Clarijs.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Eva Halman doubled for DSS with two outs, but Ginger de Weert then ended the game with her 14th strikeout.
