Olympia Haarlem adds two wins vs. Talent Team Holland
Nederlands
HAARLEM (Neth.) - FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem won its next two games on Sunday (April 19) to become the leader in the Golden League after the Opening Weekend.

Olympia Haarlem won 9-2 and 5-1 vs. Talent Team Holland, which is the new name this year for the Dutch Junior Team. The National Youth Team started its sixth season in the highest Dutch softball-league and has become more and more successful through the years. Game One ended via the mercy-rule, but in Game 2, Olympia broke an 1-1 tie in the fifth inning en route to the victory.

In the opener, Olympia Haarlem scored its first three runs in the first at bat off of starter Romy van der Wielen, who recently was added to the roster. With one out, Merel Oosterveld reached on a bunt-single and Dinet Oosting via a throwing error. The bases then got loaded when Mariëlle Vleugels walked. Next, Maranca Ham doubled down the leftfield-line to clear the bases and make it 3-0.

The Talent Team immediately narrowed the deficit to 3-2 by scoring twice in the second inning off of Eva Voortman. The bases got loaded when Isa Los walked and Laura Wissink singled with one out and Britt Remmers walked with two outs. A single down the leftfield-line by Annemiek Jansen led to two runs, but hereafter, the team was held scoreless in the remainder of the game.

In the bottom of the second inning, Olympia answered with two runs. With Eva Voortman (fielder's choice, stolen base, advance grounder) on third base and two outs, Dinet Oosting delivered an RBI-double, then scored herself when Mariëlle Vleugels followed with a single.

Three runs were added in the fourth. Voortman led off with a single and scored on a following triple by Oosterveld, who then scored on a grounder by Oosting. Hereafter, the bases got loaded when Mariëlle Vleugels walked, Maranca Ham singled and Stephanie Ruiter also walked. A single by Rachel van Veen then made it 8-2, but three runners were then left behind on two following grounders, one of which resulted in a force out at home.

Olympia reached the 7-run difference in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing new pitcher Lizzie Clarijs, Eva Voortman led off with a single, stole second base, then later scored on a force play-grounder by Mariëlle Vleugels to make it 9-2 and end the game.

Lizzie Clarijs, who closed the opener for the Talent Team, started this one. The righthander retired six batters in a row, then was relieved by rookie Roos-Marijn Kramer in the bottom of the third inning.

In the third, Olympia scored its first run. Rachel van Veen led off with a single, advanced on a wild pitch and a grounder, then scored when Brenda Beers singled, but Olympia also stranded two runners.

The Talent Team got into scoring position for the first time in the second inning off of Eva Voortman, who made her fourth start of the weekend. In the inning, Manoa Weijgertse led off with a walk and stole second base, then advanced on a bunt-single by Isa Los. After the latter also stole second base, Voorman struckout the next three batters.

Trailing 1-0, the Talent Team equaled the score in the top of the fifth inning off of Mariëlle Vleugels, who had relieved Voortman in the previous at bat. Dervisa Mutic led off with a nice triple, then scored when Damishah Charles followed with a single. But the latter then stranded at third base moments later.

In the bottom of the fifth, Olympia scored twice to break the 1-1 tie and take a 3-1 lead. With one out, Eva Voortman singled and stole second base, then moved on a single by Dinet Oosting. A following double by Mariëlle Vleugels brought in both runners.
