Game 1
Dagmar Bloeming took her turn in the starting pitching-rotation of Sparks Haarlem, as she is still in the Netherlands.
Virginie Anneveld took her familiar spot at third base for the Haarlem-squad and scored one of the runs.
The two were scheduled to leave for the USA a week ago to prepare for their first professional season in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF).
However, they are still in the Netherlands, as they are waiting for their visas.
Bloeming struckout 10 batters and gave up only three basehits to Terrasvogels, which didn't play its best defense tonight, as it made four errors, resulting in five unearned runs.
Sparks Haarlem opened the score with two runs in the first at bat off of starter Anna-Bč Bartels.
Chantal Versluis led off with a single, then moved on a bunt-single by Anne Blaauwgeers.
The two then moved on a grounder and scored when Karin Tuk followed with a single.
Jessie van Aalst had singled for Terrasvogels with two outs in the first inning, but was then caught stealing.
The team then registered its second basehit when Myrthe Smid led off the third with a single, but she stranded on first base
In the top of the fourth inning, Ella Krommendijk led off with a single, which would be the last tonight for Terrasvogels.
She was forced out, then a runner was left behind at first base.
After giving up the two runs, Anna-Bč Bartels retired seven batters in a row, but then gave up two more runs in the fourth at bat.
Lead-off hitter Virginie Anneveld reached second base on an error, then Nathalie Gosewehr walked.
After Anneveld advanced on a wild pitch, Maxime van Dalen lined into a double play.
But moments later, an error on a grounder by Cindy van der Zanden followed and that led to a run being scored by Virginie Anneveld, who, by the way, leads the league with 18 runs batted in.
A pinch-hit single by Manoa Weijgertse then accounted for the next run.
Terrasvogels was retired in order in the fifth and sixth inning, while Sparks Haarlem added three more runs to reach the 7-run difference.
Those runs were scored in the bottom of the sixth inning.
With one out, Nathalie Gosewehr reached on an error, then scored when Maxime van Dalen followed with a double.
Hereafter, Alyssa Taylor took over the pitching and she saw another run being scored when Manoa Weijgertse's fly was missed in the outfield with two outs.
Weijgertse was able to advance to third base on then error, then scored the seventh run moments later via a passed ball to end the game.
In the second inning, Anouk van den Heuvel entered the game for Terrasvogels and went on to play at third base in the remainder of the game.
In January, Van den Heuvel initially retired, but tonight made her comeback in the team.
