(Story by Marco Stoovelaar; Photos by Rein Merkx) Roef! wins big twice vs. Euro Stars Nederlands CAPELLE a/d IJSSEL (Neth.) - Roef! handed Euro Stars two mercy-rule losses on Saturday (April 25), winning 17-6 in six innings and 12-0 in five. With the double victory, Roef! moved into third place in the Silver League, while Euro Stars remained winless. Besides scoring 29 runs, Roef! collected 37 basehits in today's double-header, including six by Eva van Knegsel, who also scored six runs. Ellen Doossche and Wies Ligtvoet homered for Roef! (April 25)

Game 1 In today's first game, Roef! collected 20 basehits! Roef! used ten players offensively in this game and all registerd at least one hit. Seven of those players had at least two basehits. Eva van Knegsel, Charlotte Haen and Ennia Ballardini all hit three basehits. Wies Ligtvoet, Eva van Knegsel, Gini Ketelaars and Ennia Ballardini all scored three runs. Roef! was productive in five of its six at bats. In the first inning, four runs were scored. Wies Ligtvoet led off with a single and Eva van Knegsel doubled, then the bases got loaded when Naftely Pietersz walked. Two wild pitches then accounted for the first two runs. A single by Ellen Doossche and a double play-grounder by Nathalie Hosten then made it 4-0. Euro Stars got one run back in its first at bat when Onaisha Franka reached on an error and scored on a 2-out double by Davinia de Kwant. A sacrifice bunt by Naftely Pietersz and single by Charlotte Haen then brought in two more runs for Roef! in the second inning. A 2-run single by Eva van Knegsel gave Roef! two more runs in the third inning. She then connected for a 3-run triple in the fourth inning and scored herself on a single by Pietersz. Trailing 6-1, Euro Stars scored its second run in the second inning when Merel Cramer led off with a single and scored on a sac-bunt by Kimberly Matulessy. Trailing 8-2, the home team scored twice in the third at bat. The runs were again scored with two outs and this time via a 2-run triple by Merel Cramer. After Roef! had rallied for four runs in the top of the fourth inning, Euro Stars scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning. In the fourth, Eliza van 't Zelfde scored on a wild pitch and in the fifth, Davinia de Kwant tripled and scored on an error. Roef! then had another big rally in the sixth, scoring five runs, thanks to a 2-run double by Nathalie Hosten, 2-run single by Wies Ligtvoet and sac-fly by Eva van Knegsel, who batted in six runs.

Game 2 In the second game, Roef! was again very productive, this time collecting 17 basehits, including homeruns by Ellen Doossche and Wies Ligtvoet. Eva van Knegsel again hit three basehits and scored three runs. Wies Ligtvoet and Naftely Pietersz also hit three basehits. Marjolein Merkx went the distance for Roef! and struckout five batters, while giving up only three hits in this shutout. Roef! opened with three runs in the first inning. With one out, Eva van Knegsel singled and stole second base. She then advanced on a single by Naftely Pietersz and scored when the latter was forced out on a grounder by Charlotte Haen. Hereafter, Ellen Doossche drilled the ball into rightfield and circled the bases for a homerun. Two runs were added with two outs in the third inning. Charlotte Haen and Ellen Doossche then hit back-to-back triples, while an error accounted for the next run. Roef! also scored twice in the fourth, thanks to a 2-run triple by Naftely Pietersz. A 5-run rally then lifted the lead to 12-0 to reach the 10-run difference. Sophie Mollee led off with a triple and scored on a double by Nathalie Hosten, which led to a pitching change. Ilse van Kerkoerle then walked and Ennia Ballardini followed with a force play-grounder. Wies Ligtvoet then connected for a 3-run homerun to make it 11-0. Hereafter, Eva van Knegsel tripled and scored the twelfth run for Roef! on a single by Naftely Pietersz. Euro Stars produced only three hits. Wendy van der Hoeven and Kirsten Molle both singled with two outs in respectively the second and third at bat. Rachel Schouten led off the fourth with a single and became the lone runner for Euro Stars to reach second base.
