WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania (USA) - Australian coach Karen Marr will join Head Coach Craig Montvidas at the Pennsylvania Rebellion, the club announced today (January 26). Ten days ago, the club announced it had named Montvidas as its new Head Coach for the 2015 season. Pennsylvania Rebellion is one of five teams playing in the professional National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). Until the end of last year, Karen Marr was the Pitching Coach of the Netherlands National Softball Team the last four years.

Like Montvidas, Karen Marr also has a long coaching career. After having coached the New South Wales State Team in Australia from 1994-2001, she went on to coach with the Australia Under 19 Team and also got involved with the Australian National Team.

Internationally, Karen Marr was active as a coach of the National Team of China in 2000. In 2003, the well-respected Marr was an Assistant Coach at West Coast Academy in Canada, then was the Assistant Coach for seven years at the University of Louisville (2004-2010) in the USA. She then joined the coaching staff of the Netherlands Team in December 2010. Besides being with the Orange squad, she also served as Pitching Coach and Instructor for the Dutch National Youth Teams during her stay in the Netherlands.

While the announcement was posted on January 26, Pennsylvania already confirmed five days earlier that Karen Marr had agreed to become the team's Pitching Coach.

Karen Marr brings 21 years of coaching experience and was a member of the Dutch Team coaching-staff which won the European Championship-titles in 2011 and 2013, with the team remaining unbeaten. In Australia, she was the National Battery Development Coach for the Australian Softball Federation, then was the Pitching Coach for seven years (1994-2001) for several representative teams of New South Wales. Seven of them went on to win a championship. With the Under-19 Australian Team, she coached the squad during the World Junior Championship in Taiwan.
