Tex Town Tigers & Talent Team Holland split double-header
Nederlands
ENSCHEDE (Neth.) - Tex Town Tigers and the Talent Team Holland split their double-header on Sunday (April 26), meaning both teams won their first game of the season in the Dutch big league.

Tex Town Tigers won the opener 9-2 in a 5-inning mercy-rule game.

The Talent Team then won the second game with a 3-1 score behind the pitching of rookie Roos-Marijn Kramer, who went the distance.

Before the first game, veteran player Monique Mooi-ter Steege was honored, as she was about to play in her 500th career game for Tex Town Tigers. She made her debut in the main squad of the club on May 24, 1992, the day when she celebrated her 14th birthday, in a game against County Hitters when Tex Town Tigers played on the so-called District-level. Hereafter, she went on to play with Tex Town Tigers in its first stint in the Dutch big league in 1996-1998. After it had relegated, she kept on playing for the team in lower divisions. When Tex Town Tigers promoted back to the highest division, she also made her comeback in the big league in 2005.

Game 1

In the opener, Lindsey Meadows made her first start of the season for Tex Town Tigers and her first since August 18, 2012. She pitched for Olympia Haarlem in the 2013 and 2014 seasons. The righthander struckout three batters and gave up six basehits in today's game.

Tex Town Tigers had two big rallies in this game to decide and finish it via the mercy-rule.

The first rally produced four runs with two outs in the second inning and was set in motion by Lindsey Meadows, who led off with a double. She was unable to advance when Laura Wissink followed with an infield-hit. The two then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Monique Mooi. With two outs, then first run was scored on a single by Shaneequa Kock, then a walk for Nadine Marinus added the next run. A 2-run single by Annemiek Jansen made it 4-0.

The Talent Team narrowed the deficit to 4-2 by scoring a run in the fourth and fifth inning. In the fourth inning, Dervisa Mutic singled with two outs, stole second base and scored on a single by Lizzie Clarijs. In the fifth, Tammie Lijbers led off with a walk and also score with two outs when Brenda Beers singled.

In the bottom of the fifth, Lizzie Clarijs took over the pitching for the Talent Team. In this at bat, Tex Town Tigers staged its next rally, scoring five runs to reach the 7-run difference and end the game. Annemiek Jansen led off with a double and scored on a following single by Alana Westerhof. Hereafter, back-to-back doubles by Lindsey Meadows and Laura Wissink led to the next two runs. With one out, a single by Isa Los made i 8-2, meaning Tex Town Tigers needed only one run to end the game. After Linda van Dijk singled and two bases moved on a wild pitch, that final run was scored via a sacrifice bunt by Shaneequa Kock.

The Talent Team made it a 3-0 score in the fifth inning off of new pitcher Shaneequa Kock, who took over for starter Linda van Dijk. Brenda Beers then reached on an error, stole second base and scored on a 2-out single by Dervisa Mutic.

Trailing 1-0, Tex Town Tigers got a chance to do something back in the second inning when it got the bases loaded with no outs.
