 Zwijndrecht splits indoor double-header in Apeldoorn

The softball-team of Zwijndrecht held a training-camp in the weekend at the site of Robur '58 in Apeldoorn for the third consecutive year.
There, the team of Head Coach Michael Zwitzer practiced on Saturday (despite some rain in the afternoon), then played two games on Sunday.
Because of the expected rain, it was decided on Sunday-morning to play both games indoors.
Zwijndrecht convincingly won 12-0 vs. Robur '58 in a 7-inning game, but lost 9-4 vs. Caribe in a game that lasted four innings.
Coming Saturday, Zwijndrecht will play a double-header at home against Euro Stars, starting at 2 PM.
Last Saturday, Euro Stars had a double-header scheduled vs. Twins, but that was cancelled due to the weather conditions.

In the game against Robur '58, the team of Zwijndrecht showed some offensive power, as it collected 21 basehits.
Dayenne Sluijter, Sanne Korpel (one double), Claudia Kranendonk and Themis Claes (one double) all registered three basehits.
All ten players in Zwijndrecht's batting order hit at least one basehit.
In this very productive game, Zwijndrecht opened the score with two runs in the first inning.
With one out, Sanne Korpel singled, then the team got runners on first and third base when a grounder by Kelsey Huijzers ended in an error.
With two outs, a single by Claudia Kranendonk led to the first run.
Hereafter, Chantal Fehling walked, then an error on a grounder by Nadine van der Loos led to the second run, but then the base were left behind loaded.
In the second inning, Zwijndrecht got the bases loaded with two outs.
Themis Claes, Dayenne Sluijter (bunt) and Sanne Korpel then all singled, but they all stranded.
After another scoreless inning, Zwijndrecht added three runs in the third at bat, again with two outs.
The same trio as two innings before then hit three consecutive singles, but this time, the hit by Dayenne Sluijter led to a run.
Next, Sanne Korpel followed with a 2-run double to make it a 5-0 score.
In the fifth inning, the next run was scored when Claudia Kranendonk singled and went on to score on an error.
But for the third time in this game, three runners were left behind.
In the sixth inning, Zwijndrecht rallied for six runs.
Themis Claes led off with a double, but couldn't advance on a following single by Dayenne Sluijter.
An error on a sacrifice bunt by Sanne Korpel then led to the first run in this at bat.
A bunt-single by Kelsey Huijzers loaded the bases.
Hereafter, Michelle van Bodegom followed with a 2-run single.
A grounder by Claudia Kranendonk, single by Chantal Fehling and double by Nadine van der Loos then brought in three more runs and lifted the lead to 12-0.
With two outs, Laura Zuidam singled and Denise Theulings walked, but for the fourth time, three runners stranded.
Robur '58 collected only two basehits off of two pitchers.
Starter Denise Theulings struckout 10 batters, including five in a row.
With two outs in the fourth inning, she gave up her first basehit, when Lianne Rothengatter reached on a bunt-single.
Chantal Fehling pitched the final three innings for Zwijndrecht.
She gave up Robur's second basehit in the sixth inning.
With two outs and Marloes Doeleman (Walk) on first base, Julia Bos singled, but a strikeout then ended the inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, Robur got close to a run.
With two outs, the young team from Apeldoorn had the bases loaded, but a strikeout ended the inning and the game.
This season, Robur '58, which is coached by Hans van Vechgel, will play again in the First Division.

In the game against Caribe, Zwijndrecht ended up short.
The team, which committed several defensive errors, was outhit 9-6 and lost 9-4 in a 4-inning game.
Last season, towards the end of the season in the First Division Promotion Pool, Zwijndrecht had won three of its four games against Caribe, including two big victories of 10-2 and 10-3.
Caribe, which comes from the northern city of Groningen, opened the score with two runs in the first at bat.
Former Zwijndrecht-player Michelle Bruijn led off with a walk, then scored when an error followed.
With one out, Mickey Ras (who played in the big league for Euro Stars in the past), singled and went on to score the second run on another error.
Caribe added three runs in the second inning.
Danielle Moolenaar led off with a double and scored on the third defensive error.
Later in the at bat, Thrina Frank (fielder's choice) and Mickey Ras (single) both scored on a double by Sanne Scheltena to make it 5-0.
The team from Groningen staged another rally in the third inning, this time scoring four runs.
With the bases loaded, an error on a grounder by Michelle Bruijn led to two runs, then another error accounted for the next two runs.
Hilde Bosker pitched for Caribe and she held Zwijndrecht scoreless in the first three at bats, but the team got close to scoring a run a few times.
In the second inning, Claudia Kranendonk led off with a single, then moved to third base on a 2-out single by Laura Zuidam, but both were left behind.
In the third at bat, the team (again) left three runners.
Kyra van Genderen led off with a walk, then two outs followed.
The bases got loaded when Sanne Korpel and Kelsey Huijzers both also walked, but a strikeout ended the scoring opportunity.
Trailing 9-0, Zwijndrecht was able to do something back in the fourth inning, scoring four runs after the first five batters reached base safely.
Lead-off hitter Claudia Kranendonk was hit by a pitch, then advanced on a passed ball and wild pitch.
Next, Michelle van Bodegom walked and Dayenne Sluijter followed with a single to bring in Zwijndrecht's first run.
Laura Zuidam followed with another runscoring single, then the next run was scored when a fly by Denis Theulings ended in an error.
With runners on first and second base and two outs, the bases got loaded when Nadine van der Loos singled.
Sanne Korpel then also delivered a basehit to bring in the fourth run in this at bat.
Hereafter, a force out followed, meaning three runners stranded.
Again.
Like Robur '58, Caribe also will play in the First Division.
