 UVV wins Midden-Nederland Cup

UVV has won the Midden-Nederland Cup.
Again!
On Sunday (March 27), UVV shutout Centrals 4-0 in the Final of the two-day event, which was organized and hosted again by Hilversurm Hurricanes at its complex in Loosdrecht.
It marks the third time that UVV wins the tournament.
The squad also won the first and second edition in 2011 and 2012.
The tournament had to be cancelled due to bad weather in 2013, then Amsterdam Pirates won in 2014.
Last year, the weather conditions weren't favorable, as it was cold and it rained.
After all games were played on the first day, the final two games had to be cancelled due to rain the next day.
The final was then re-scheduled and was played a week later with Centrals winning 11-3 against UVV.

In the preliminary round, both Centrals and UVV remained unbeaten.
In Pool A, Centrals recorded three shutouts, winning against Hilversum Hurricanes (2-0), Ban-Topa Future Stars (6-0) and Amsterdam Pirates (4-0).
In Pool B, UVV also began with two shutout-victories against HCAW (2-0) and Germany Under19 (4-0).
It then closed the preliminary round with a 6-4 win against BioSilk Quick Amersfoort.
With that, Centrals als UVV qualified for the semi-finals, as were Amsterdam Pirates and Quick Amersfoort.
Centrals then reached the final by winning 4-1 against Quick, while UVV nipped Amsterdam Pirates, 2-1.
In the semi-final, Helma Pluim went the distance for UVV and gave up only four basehits.
She was supported with a double play in the first inning.
UVV initially faced an 1-0 deficit in the top of the third inning.
With one out, Babette van Kouwenhoven doubled, moved on a passed ball and scored on an error.
Mandy van der Maas pitched for Pirates and retired the first seven batters in a row.
With one out in the third inning, she walked Nienke Trapman, who then advanced on a passed ball and a grounder.
Hereafter, Laura Arp connected for a 2-run homerun that would be decisive.

The game for third and fourth place then had to be cancelled, as Quick Amersfoort withdrew its team, due to injuries and not enough pitching.
Puck van der Kolk, one its regular pitchers, was also injured.
With that, Amsterdam Pirates was awarded third place.
The Final was a rematch of last years finalists.
UVV played a strong game and held Centrals scoreless, winning 4-0 en route to its third tournament-championship.
In the Final, UVV took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Laura Arp led off with a walk, then Helma Pluim reached on a bunt-single.
With two outs, they both scored on a single by Ylaine van den Hove.
UVV added a run in the third inning.
With one out, Jessica Vogel-Hall and Cintia de Groodt singled, then Ylaine van den Hove again delivered a runscoring single.
She also accounted for the fourth UVV-run in the fifth.
Jessica Vogel-Hall then led off with a single, moved on a wild pitch and a single by Cintia de Groodt, then scored when and error was made on a grounder by Ylaine van den Hove.
Centrals got into scoring position only once off of UVV's lefthanded American pitcher Jessica Vogel-Hall.
In the first inning, with two outs, Stephanie Pearce walked, then moved when Franka van Dijk singled to become the lone runner in scoring position.
In the second inning, Shanna te Vrede registered the second and last basehit for Centrals.
