Starting Pitchers coming series
Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
On Thursday-evening, April 12, the second 3-game series of the season starts and so, the starting pitchers have been announced again.
The upcoming series features some interesting match-ups, including that of Dutch champion L&D Amsterdam Pirates and multi-champion DOOR Neptunus.
But we also have some interesting pitching match-ups.
L&D Amsterdam Pirates vs. DOOR Neptunus
Dutch champion L&D Amsterdam Pirates opened the season with two victories vs. UVV, but then lost the third game in 10 innings.
DOOR Neptunus started the new season with three big victories against Sparta-Feyenoord.
If everything is going the way of the Head Coaches, the starting rotations for this series will be the same as they used in their opening series.
But some things are not sure at the moment, as RHP Rob Cordemans (Amsterdam) and RHP Bobby Carrington (Neptunus) are both stricken with the flu.
And that might change the rotations.
In case Cordemans is unable to start on Thursday, RHP Jos de Jong probably will take his place.
That means that Cordemans might move to Saturday or Head Coach Charles Urbanus has to name another starter for Game 2 in case the righthander is not yet eligible in the weekend.
RHP Ben Grover already has been to start Sunday's game (as of now).
Another possible starter might be RHP Nick Stuifbergen or one of the rookies on the Amsterdam-roster.
Neptunus named the same two starters for the first two games, but has not yet decided for Sunday's game, which will be Carrington's spot if he is fit to pitch.
If not, Head Coach Jan Collins has to name someone else.
Righthanders Tim Roodenburg and Kevin van Veen, who both pitched in relief last weekend, are available.
Dushan Ruzic, who was used as closer twice last weekend, also has starting experience, but he probably will stick to his relief-duties.
