Sparks Haarlem vs. DSS

DSS opened the score in the first inning. Mark Smit led off with a single, stole second base and scored on a grounder by Mitchel Koot. But hereafter, DSS was unable to take more distance and saw Sparks Haarlem score twice in the home of the third inning.

With two outs, Wouter Kamstra and Tom Vreeken singled off of starter Tim Halderman. Then Mathijs van Dusschoten also singled to bring in the tying run. A following single by Lindell Finsy (who last season played for DSS) gave Sparks Haarlem a 2-1 lead. This led to a pitching change. Mark van Deursen took over and ended the inning.

The lead was shortlived, as DSS answered with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Ryan Miner led off with a double, advanced on a grounder by Tino van Erk and scored the tying run on a single by Shane Boeree (ex-Pioniers). A triple by Lex Leijenaar then gave DSS a 3-2 lead and a following single by Mitchel Dautzenberg added another run.

After Sparks Haarlem left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, DSS then rallied for five runs in the fifth inning. Sven Jongejans and Mitchel Koot both singled. In between, Robert Hilterman took over the pitching for starter Matthijs Naujoks. Both runners scored on a double by Ryan Miner. Later in the at bat, a basesloaded walk for Levine Gabriels and a 2-run single by Mark Smit lifted the lead to 9-2.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Sparks Haarlem also staged a rally. The team scored four runs to narrow the deficit to 9-6, but was unable to add more runs. In the fifth, Sparks Haarlem scored its runs thanks to a grounder by Tim-Jan Tio, single by Nils Mica and 2-run single by Tom Vreeken.
