VLEUTEN (Neth.) - Veteran coach Hubert Bomba will be the Head Coach of the womensquad of UVV, which will return to the big league in 2013, despite initially being relegated this season. As reported earlier, UVV remains in the big league, taking the place of Robur '58, which promoted, but is unable to field a representative team in the highest division. UVV also announced that three players left the team after it relegated, but it has added three new players to its roster for next season.

Hubert Bomba (also known as Humphrey) played baseball in the Dutch big league for Quick Amersfoort, where he played in the seventies and early eighties (1976-1983) as an outfielder. Later, he went on to become one of the coaches of this club, which then played on a lower level. Bomba also played men softball several seasons for Antillian Stars. Besides coaching at Quick Amersfoort, Bomba also was an assistant coach of Almere Magpies, when it played in the big league in 2010. This year, Bomba was the 1B Coach for the big league baseball-team of Mr. Cocker HCAW.

Bomba, who succeeds Melvin Brown, will be assisted by Sanne Bolhuis, who this season was the Head Coach of the second team of UVV, whom she led to first place in the Second Division, resulting in promotion to the First Division. In 1998, as a 16-year old, she played in 22 games for UVV, which then also played in the big league. This season, she made a comeback and played in 16 games, hitting .286, while also severing as Assistant Coach in the second half of the season when she succeeded Jeroen Roos.

Floor van Dijk, who moved to Gryphons, played in 32 games for UVV and batted .263 (21-for-80), hit three triples, scored eight runs and had five RBI's. She also was a member of the successful National Junior Team that won the European Championship.

Nikki Harte, who returns to Centrals, batted .231 (30-for-130) for UVV this season, with 14 runs scored and seven RBI's. She earlier played for Centrals in the big league from 2006-2010, before coming to UVV.

Kayleigh Adelina, who also went to Centrals, made her big league-debut this season, hitting .253 (24-for-95) with three doubles, one triple and one homeruns. She scored 11 runs and had 10 RBI's. In the beginning of the year, she was a member of the preliminary roster of the Dutch National Team, but she withdraw due to study-reasons.

UVV added three young players, pitcher Pien Bartels (Hilversum Hurricanes), catcher Katja Distel and infielder Edith Riemsdijk. The latter played in the big league in 2009 for Robur '58, while Bartels and Distel have been members of preliminary rosters of the Dutch Junior Team. UVV might add some more players.
