Game One
In today's opener, Euro Stars outhit Zwijndrecht 15-9 and won big with a 15-5 score.
It wasn't the best game defensively for Zwijndrecht, which committed seven errors.
Davinia de Kwant and Anna Prins both had three hits for Euro Stars.
The latter also scored three runs, as did Rachel Schouten, who reached base five times.
Euro Stars opened the score in the first inning with two outs when Rachel Schouten reached on an error, stole second base and scored on a double by Davinia de Kwant.
The second run was added in the third at bat and was manufactured by the same duo.
Again with two outs, Schouten walked, then scored when De Kwant doubled again.
Euro Stars then rallied for five unearned runs in the fourth at bat.
Lead-off hitter Eliza van 't Zelfde reached on an error, then, with one out, the bases got loaded when Anna Prins and Kimberley Matulessy both singled.
An error on a grounder by Onaisha Franka then led to the first run and a triple by Kirsten Molle cleared the bases and brought in the next three runs.
The latter then scored herself on an error to make it 7-0, but then three runners were left behind.
In the bottom of the fourth, Zwijndrecht got one run back when Michelle van Bodegom tripled with one out and scored on a passed ball.
In the second inning, Claudia Kranendink and Chantal Fehling had led off with singles for Zwijndrecht, but then stranded on second and third base.
Euro Stars added another run in the fifth inning when Anna Prins led off with a double and later scored on a passed ball.
Both teams then used the sixth and seventh inning to practice tie-break procedures.
In the top of the sixth, Euro Stars scored four more runs.
Tie-break runner Davinia de Kwant moved on a single by Kimberly van der Lee, then a double-steal led to a run.
Eliza van 't Zelfde followed with another single, then an one-out single by Anna Prins and a 2-run double by Kimblery Matulessy increased the lead to 12-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Zwijndrecht did something back.
Tie-break runner Sanne Korpel advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kelsey Huijzers, then Michelle van Bodegom walked.
A double by Claudia Kranendonk (who was 3-for-3) then brought in both runners.
But Euro Stars wasn't finished yet scoring runs and added three more in the seventh inning, which were the result of three defensive errors.
Only five of the 15 runs scored by Euro Stars were earned.

The double-header between Zwijndrecht and Euro Stars, that was played on Saturday (April 4) ended in two big victories.
One for each team!
Euro Stars opened with a 15-5 win, then Zwijndrecht won the next game, 11-1.
