Terrasvogels shuts out Tex Town Tigers to close Day 1 PO-Weekend
Nederlands
ALMERE (Neth.) -
Terrasvogels won 6-0 vs. Tex Town Tigers to win its first game to conclude the first day of the 6-game Golden League Play-Off Weekend on Saturday (September 19) at the site of Almere '90 in Almere.
In the previous game today, Terrasvogels lost 5-1 vs. FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem, which had opened the day with a 13-0 win vs. Tex Town Tigers.
The Play-Off Weekend concludes with three more games on Sunday, also in Almere.
Game One - Olympia Haarlem vs. Tex Town Tigers
Game Two - Terrasvogels vs. Olympia Haarlem
The Play-Off Weekend is part of a new format to conclude the softball-season.
It will be followed by the Golden League Holland Series Weekend, which will take place coming weekend on the site of Hoofddorp Pioniers in Hoofddorp.
In the new set-up, the winner of the regular season (which ended on Sunday, September 13) automatically qualified for this final weekend.
But that also means that season-winner Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem will not play this weekend.
The teams that finished in second, third and fourth place qualified for the Play-Offs during the regular season.
FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem ended in second place, ahead of Terrasvogels.
Last Sunday, Tex Town Tigers became the fourth team to reach the top-4, passing DSS on the final day of the season.
But despite having secured their spot in the Play-Offs, these three teams now play this additional round.
The final ranking in this round determines the filling in of the games for the Holland Series Weekend.
During the Holland Series Weekend, the three regular Play-Off rounds will be played to be followed by the Holland Series.
As opposed to previous seasons, all these rounds, including the decisive Holland Series, will only be a best-of-one!
In the past, the Play-Offs were best-of-three series and the Holland Series a best-of-five.
Also in the new format, all these postseason-games will be played at a neutral site.
Besides the Play-Off Weekend in Almere and the Holland Series Weekend in Hoofddorp, there also were two Promotion/Relegation Series today in Rosmalen.
