 Terrasvogels shuts outs Tex Town Tigers to advance to Backdoor

 HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
Terrasvogels shutout Tex Town Tigers 7-0 on Saturday-afternoon (September 16) to win the best-of-one second Play-Off round.
With that, the squad advanced to the backdoor Play-Off on Sunday.
In that game, Terrasvogels will face title defender Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem.
The winner of that game will become the second finalist for the Holland Series, which will be played later on Sunday-afternoon.
Earlier today, in the first Play-Off round, Sparks Haarlem lost 3-2 to FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem, which therefore became the first finalist.

This game was played at the site of Hoofddorp Pioniers in Hoofddorp, where all other Play-Off games, as well as the Holland Series also will be played.
As winner of the regular season, Sparks Haarlem automatically advanced to this final round, the Holland Series Weekend.
The three following teams, Olympia Haarlem, Terrasvogels and Tex Town Tigers first had to play an additional series of games in the Play-Off Weekend, which took place a week ago in Almere.
There, the teams ended up in the same order as in the regular season.
And that's how Terrasvogels and Tex Town Tigers got to face each other in this game.

Also today in Hoofddorp was the conclusion of the best-of-five Promotion/Relegation Play-Off between Twins and Alcmaria Victrix.
Twins won 4-0 and promoted to return to the big league next season.

Terrasvogels collected 11 basehits in this game, including three by Lisa Waasdorp, who also doubled, scored a run and batted in one.
In the top of the first inning, Nadine Marinus led off the game for Tex Town Tigers with a bunt-single off of starter Ginger de Weert.
She was to be the lone player to reach base off of the righthander, who retired the next 12 batters in a row, including eight on strikeouts, two in each of the four innings she pitched.
Malou van Dusschoten then took over and pitched the fifth inning for Terrasvogels.
TTT-starter Cheyenne Scheffer initially held Terrasvogels scoreless in its first two innings.
In the first at bat, Jessie van Aalst walked with two outs, but was caught stealing.
In the second, Lisa Waasdorp singled with two outs and stole second base, but then was left behind.
Terrasvogels then rallied for five runs in the third inning.
Anna-Bè Bartels and Myrthe Smid (bunt) both reached on errors.
They then scored when Marisèla de Wind and Ella Krommendijk followed with runscoring singles.
Hereafter, Jessie van Aalst also delivered an RBI-single to bring in De Wind and make it a 3-0 score.
Shaneequa Kock then took over the pitching, but was greeted with another single, this time hit by Kimberly Jones, which also brought in a run.
After a flyout accounted for the first out, Lisa Waasdorp followed with another runscoring single to lift the lead to 5-0.
In the top of the fifth inning, Tex Town Tigers got two baseunners off of new pitcher Malou van Dusschoten.
Monique Mooi led off with a single, then Van Dusschoten followed with a strikeout.
Aafje van Baal then also singled, but the team from Enschede then left both runners behind.
In the bottom of the fifth, Terrasvogels reached the 7-run difference to end the game.
With one out, Lizzie Clarijs singled and Lisa Waasdorp doubled, which led to another change.
Linda van Dijk took over, but gave up a runscoring single to Jessica Waasdorp.
Hereafter, pinch-hitter Jeske Meewisse also singled to bring in the seventh run and with that, her hit became a walk-off single, as it ended the game via the mercy-rule.
