JUPITER, Florida / PHOENIX / SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (USA) - On Saturday (March 6), fourteen exhibiton games were played again in the Major League Spring Training-season.

In these games, three players with a Dutch passport saw action: Carter Kieboom (Washington Nationals), Jurickson Profar (San Diego Padres) and Chadwick Tromp (San Francisco Giants). Profar and Tromp were successful, as both recorded a basehit.

In Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, which is located in the Jupiter-community of Abacoa, Carter Kieboom started as third baseman for Washington Nationals in an away-game against Miami Marlins. Washington won 5-3 in a game that was halted after six complete innings by rain.

Kieboom led off the second inning and then was struckout by starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara. In the fourth inning, Kieboom faced reliever Daniel Castano with a runner on first base. He made good contact, but his line drive into rightfield was caught. Kieboom was replaced in the bottom of the fifth by Jackson Cluff, who became the new short stop, while Yasmany Tomas took over at third base.

At Camelback Ranch-Glendale in Phoenix, World Series-champion Los Angeles Dodgers played at home against San Diego Padres and lost 2-1 in a 7-inning game. Although Camelback Ranch is located in the city of Phoenix, it is owned by the city of Glendale, which is located 14 km northwest of Phoenix. This season, Los Angeles and San Diego will be the main contenders in the National League West.

Jurickson Profar was the starting centerfielder and lead-off hitter for San Diego. He had a strong first at bat in the top of the first inning off of starting pitcher Trevor Bauer, who signed with Los Angeles on February 11. Profar fouled off some pitches and then hit a single on the ninth delivery by Bauer, who last season won the Cy Young Award in the National League, while pitching for Cincinnati Reds. Next batter Tommy Pham then walked (seven pitches), but hereafter, Bauer recovered and retired the next three batters (two strikeouts).

In the top of the third inning, Profar faced Bauer again with a runner on first base, but this time, he popped out into foul territory. Profar was then replaced in the bottom of the fourth by Robert Hassell III.

San Diego scored its two runs in the sixth inning on a 2-run single by Gosuke Katoh. Los Angeles scored its lone run in the seventh inning on a double by Matt Davidson.

In Scottsdale Stadium in Scottsdale, San Francisco Giants played at home against Kansas City Royals and lost 8-6 in a 9-inning game. San Francisco led 6-2 after five innings, but Kansas City then scored three runs in the sixth and two on the seventh to turn the game around. The eighth run was added in the ninth. Kansas City took a 7-6 lead in the seventh on a 2-run homerun by Erick Mejia, who then added an RBI-double two innings later.

In the top of the sixth, Chadwick Tromp entered the game as new catcher for Giants, replacing Buster Posey. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Tromp got his first at bat with one out and delivered a single with a line drive into rightfield off of reliever Austin Cox. But the next two batters were retired. Tromp didn't get another at bat in the next two innings, as San Francisco was retired in order in both the eighth and ninth inning.
