Nederlands
BUSSUM (Neth.) -
The start of the new season in the Silver League began with a cancellation for HCAW and Gryphons on Saturday (April 11).
The opening game of the double-header in Bussum initially went underway.
But with a scoreless tie in the bottom of the first inning, umpires Peter Vonk and Arjan Mens halted the game due to the rain.
After waiting for the weather to improve, the game eventually was cancelled, as was Game 2.
The double-header was re-scheduled for Sunday, April 19.
All other double-headers on this Opening Day in the new Silver League also were bothered by the rain.
The second games of the double-headers between Centrals and Roef! in De Bilt, Twins and Euro Stars in Oosterhout and UVV vs. Ban-Topa Future Stars in Vleuten also were cancelled.
Roef! nipped Centrals 1-0 in its opener, while Twins opened with a 3-1 victory and Ban-Topa won 10-9.
In Amsterdam, the first game between Amsterdam Pirates and Zwijndrecht also went underway, but then was stopped.
Only Onze Gezellen and Almere '90 were able to play both games.
Onze Gezellen won 16-6 and 5-3.
