Game 1
Zwijndrecht had a good start, as it opened the score with two runs in the first inning.
Lead-off hitter Dayenne Sluijter reached on an error and Sanne Korpel then singled.
The two advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kelsey Huijzers, then it was opted (with two outs) to set up a force play by walking powerhitter Claudia Kranendonk intentionally.
But that failed, as basesloaded walks followed for Chantal Fehling and Themis Claes to give Zwijndrecht a 2-0 lead.
Two runs were added in the second inning, again with two outs.
Kyra van Genderen led off with a single, then scored on a 2-out single by Kelsey Huijzers.
A single by Claudia Kranendonk then made it 4-0.
Pirates, which stranded a runner on third base in the first inning, got a run back in the bottom of the second inning.
With one out, Uchenna Jong Loy walked and went on to score on a 2-out single by Ragna Stegenga.
Zwijndrecht rallied for four runs to lift the lead to 8-1 in the third inning.
And again, all runs were scored with two outs.
With one out, Nadine van der Loos and Kyra van Genderen (bunt) singled, then the bases got loaded with two outs when Sanne Korpel walked.
A run was then scored when Kelsey Huijzers was hit by a pitch and Michelle van Bodegom followed with a 3-run double.
In the bottom of the third inning, with a runner on third base and one out, the game was interrupted by rain.
A long delay followed, but in the end, the game was cancelled, so all details of this game, as published above, are just for-the-record, as the game has to be replayed in its entirety.
The game marked the debut for the new coaching-duo of Pirates.
The team initially was led by Jan Kouwenhoven, but he had to withdraw due to work commitments, which brought him to Paris.
His assistant Stefan Vessies took over, while Ton van Koeverden became the new assistant.
