Albies, Gregorius, Schoop collect Spring Training-hits; Tromp optioned to Triple-A

SURPRISE, Arizona (USA) - Ozzie Albies, Didi Gregorius and Jonathan Schoop all collected a basehit during Major League Spring Training-games played on Monday and Tuesday (March 15-16).

On Monday, catcher Chadwick Tromp was assigned to Triple-A. Tromp made his Major League-debut last year playing for San Francisco Giants. This year, he again was in Spring Training with the Major League-squad, but he will start the new season with Sacramento River Cats.

Earlier on Monday, Tromp played for San Francisco in a 6-1 loss against Kansas City Royals. In the game played in Surprise, Tromp was the starting catcher and batted 0-for-3 for San Francisco, which was retired in order in the first four innings. He lined out in the third inning, then reached on an error in the sixth, but was eliminated in a double play. Tromp flied out in the top of the eighth inning, them was replaced in the bottom of the eighth.

Ozzie Albies was 1-for-2 and scored two runs for Atlanta Braves on Monday in a 5-1 win against Minnesota Twins.

Also on Monday, Didi Gregorius was 1-for-3 for Philadelphia Phillies in a 4-2 loss against New York Yankees. On Tuesday, Gregorius also started as short stop in a 14-5 loss against Toronto Blue Jays. He was hit by a pitch in the second inning, then left the game in the top of the fourth inning.

Jurickson Profar played on both Monday and Tuesday for San Diego Padres, but remained hitless. On Monday, he was 0-for-4, but scored a run in a 13-3 win against Milwaukee Brewers. On Tuesday, he was 0-for-3 in a 4-3 loss against Chicago White Sox.

Also on Tuesday, Xander Bogaerts was 0-for-2 with a walk for Boston Red Sox in a 5-3 win against Atlanta Braves. Carter Kieboom was 0-for-3 for Washington Nationals in a 4-3 loss against Miami Marlins. Andrelton Simmons was 0-for-2 with a walk on Tuesday for Minnesota Twins in a 4-2 loss against Pittsburgh Pirates. In the same game, Zander Wiel walked and scored one of the two runs for Minnesota. Wiel was 0-for-1 in Monday's game against Atlanta Braves (5-1 loss) after having entered as pinch-runner.
